The Difference

What is the difference between a Spirit-filled passionate christian and an apathetic milk toast push over?

What is the different between a defensive closed-minded person and an engaging open-minded person?

What is the difference between someone who welcomes others in and someone who pushes others out?

What is the difference between someone who loves and someone who hates?

What is the difference between some who seeks the truth and someone who lets anything go?

What is the difference between someone who helps people grow in the Lord and someone who tears others down?

What is the difference between someone living in peace and a person living in chaos?

What is the difference between a person concerned for self and a person concerned for others?

What is the difference between a person who loves their enemies and a person who hates their enemies?

What is the difference between someone who deals with reality and someone who rejects reality?

What is the difference between a Christian and any other person on the planet?

A Spirit of Adoption. > A Spirit of Fear.

I am, of course, refering to Romans 8:15

Paul says that we have not been given a Spirit of Fear, but a Spirit of Adoption.  I have met non-believers who have no hope.  But I've also met Christians who aren't speaking/acting from their heritage - they are speaking/acting out of fear.

Don't be scared.  Our God is big enough to take care of us.  God is too powerful to let falsehoods continue forever.  Our God is big enough to love us unconditionally, regardless of where we have been and how we've screwed up (or, even love you if you don't think you've screwed up).  No more fear.  Just adoption.  You've been welcomed into the family, lets bring more in.  Remember your baptism, you are no longer trapped by what holds everyone else back.  To do any less is not to be scared of life, but to be scared of God.
