I found it extremely interesting that the internetmonk's blog found its way to the christian science monitor. He says some good things here, some things very much worth listening to, but, what he's saying has been said before. This isn't new. Now, that's not a critique, it's simply an observation that there are quite a few people concerned about what the church will look like in the next ten to twenty years. We already exist in post-Christendom as a society; unfortunately, the church is ten years behind and won't realize that until it's too late. So, what is the UMC doing in the midst of such a major paradigm shift? Peace.
What can the UMC do? If the clergy get fired for being "too out in front of their congregations" then how is the clergy and the "leadership" supposed to lead. Sounds like the congregants need to get up off of their collective asses and push their leadership forward.?
